Who needs MultiCat?
Who needs MultiCat?
MultiCat is vital for any automotive business using parts information for varied makes and models.
Repair shops, dealerships and garages, part dealers and retailers, small and medium sized parts manufacturers, insurers, assessors and vehicle fleet operators are potential users of MultiCat.
Repair shops, dealerships and garages need MultiCat for more efficient part order generation. MultiCat provides a convenient interface, enabling part selection directly from the business management software.
Currently, authorized dealers work with the original manufacturers' catalogs, which are usually expensive and cover only the manufacturer's models. Unaffiliated dealers and garages have no manufacturers' catalog information whatsoever. Some of them have access to limited local Aftermarket cross-reference information.
The part dealers and retailers currently have access to limited local Aftermarket cross-reference information and a limited variety of backward part catalogs received from the part manufacturers.
Insurers and assessors also need comprehensive information necessary for claim and estimate integration, control and verification.
In 2004 EU regulations concerning GVO (Block Exemption) Law take effect. MultiCat is the only platform providing access to multiple makes & models OE parts data. The MultiCat unified computerized data platform, becomes more valuable than ever!
Why MultiCat?
Why MultiCat?
Current part catalogs may be divided into four categories:
Hardcopy Catalogs - books and microfiches provided by vehicle and part manufacturers. These catalogs are difficult to use, come in various languages and need storage space.
Manufacturers Electronic Part Catalogs - these catalogs contain only one manufacturer's models, or parts. They are usually expensive and their availability is limited.
Electronic Catalogs for Original Parts - these catalogs include only partial data for each model, and do not contain comprehensive information intended for worldwide use.
Aftermarket Cross-Reference Systems - include only limited data for each model and are extremely inaccurate. These systems are usually based on local part manufacturers' information and contain only a limited range of original part numbers, if any.
Every dealer, repair shop or garage that wishes to extend his range of makes and models, needs access to the relevant OE parts information on a unified platform.
Part suppliers that until now supplied only aftermarket parts can now use MultiCat to extend their business offerings.
The kind of parts catalog the market really needs must offer a single platform for all manufacturers. It must be easy to use, fast and accurate. It should be based on a comprehensive database and provide the original part numbers. It must be acceptably priced and be available to all.
Such a OE part catalog already exists - MultiCat!
Anyone who wants to add makes & models, who needs car manufacturers' data, or who was limited to supplying AM parts, can now employ MultiCat to vastly increase business opportunities!
How does MultiCat work?
How does MultiCat work?
MultiCat is designed as an exceptionally user-friendly and simple service. Each selection leads to the next information level. Selection of the make, model and production date of the required vehicle is easy. More specific model definitions occur during the part selection process.
The next step displays the vehicle's main assemblies, sub assemblies and parts, organized in a tree-oriented structure. This structure insures quick and easy part location. The selection of a part opens a "part information dialog", which contains the relevant part number. This sub-screen enables addition of the part to a "selected parts list".
The system includes a search feature according to Catalog Number, when available.
The system output consists of the summary of all user selections made in the course of his work. It can be exported to other applications, turned into an electronic purchase order or saved as a file.
MultiCat includes a VID Code (VIN) Translator. It is used to automatically define specific model characteristics and helps reduce the number of questions MultiCat will pose to the user during the part selection process.
